What are Liminal Spaces?

• "liminal" is derived from the Latin word limen, meaning "threshold"
• It is standing at the threshold between one space and another—a transitional space. This can be physical, like a hallway, or psychological, when you are beyond a comfort zone and about to jump into something new. It is the space between your conscious and unconscious.
• In magic and witchcraft, liminal spaces are the boundary between our world and the spirit world. Halloween/Samhain/Dia de los Muertos is a holiday about liminal space.
